carnet (again)
Hi all,
We all know that you need quite a hefty deposit to obtain a carnet that'll take you into Egypt...at least that's what I keep on reading. I'm a Belgian and applied for a CPD (in Belgium), the man on the telephone said that it doesn't make a difference what country I was going to with the carnet, that it is valid wherever i go. The man is new in his job and I fear that he might be wrong about the Egypt bit... Is it possible that a carnet issued in Belgium (or other countries) has a different validity of the ones issued in another country. (I sincerly hope so, I'm getting a carnet for a mere 2500 euro deposit for a hj61!) Thanks! Buzzjoost |
Hello Joost,
where did you apply for your carnet in Belgium. Mail me back, we are leaving mid november for Africa and will need a carnet as well fot our landrover. Greetz, Karel Harelbeke West-Vlaanderen |
Karel,
You can call 02/287.09.32 (RACB). The guy speaks french only, and he will not be in before tuesday. I'm trying to get the carnet without the need for 'solidaire borgstelling' which is something like someone with a house or so commits paying all claims you cannot pay for. good luck, Rob |
Hi everyboduy,
we're leaving in three weeks and also applied for the DCP, it was always with Mvr. Vanzuylen, but since she doesn't work there anymore, it's Mr. Jaqmart now. He is not new but speaks only french. We had to open an account with our bank (Fortsi) and make a deposit of 1250 euro for our Landcruiser, but since it's all taking some time, we made an appointment this wednesday with Mr. Jaqmart. Maybe I can inform you more after this appointment. See you, Wim & Nicole www.traveladdict.be |
