carnet for Niger?
 

The Niger embassy in Brussels says we need a carnet to get a visa but this is the first I hear of it. Does anybody know if this is a new requirement? Can we easily get a visa along the way (Tunisia, Libya, Algeria) without a carnet?

Just returned from Niger. We went in from Burkina Faso, and got visas on the border. Although we were asked whether we had a carnet, it was not essential. We got a 10 day laisser passer at the douane post no problems.
