crossing senegal border
I'm just reading some info about entering Senegal from Mori. Is it still true that you can't take your old car (2WD diesel) through Senegal to Gambia? I am planning to cross in March. Has someone done it recently and would like to share this information on this forum? Or can someone direct me to another link on this site? Or do you all advise me to sell in Nouakchott?
Thanks, jan |
Hi Jan,
No u cannot enter Senegal without paying 300 euro for yor car ... we have entered Senegal at the Diama borderpost. There is a corrupt mother****er there who claims to be the king of Senegal. Even the senegalese goverment know about these husslers, but the're afraid to stop this maniac from ripping innocent people off. Dutch, French, german cras are left behind there, people go into St louis for a new visum and return to Mauretanie. We paid the ****ers !! 5 cars for 140 euro's per car ... I will never go back to Senegal !! Bien venu ....en Senegal Selling your car !! is possible but your profit will go down 300 euro's !! Good luck u can as me more details .. We passed the border at 15-11-2003 only months ago .. |
we paid only 50 euros per car! but there were 7 of us. at the beginning of october

Hi,
we are in Senegal at the moment and crossed the bridge at diama instead of getting involved with the hassle of Rosso and didn't have any problems. 4 Landy's did the same again with no real hassle. 5 Euros to cross the bridge (on motorbike) and a couple of Euros for the carnet to be stamped and then the normal insurance. Try to get the early and if you get hassled try to sit it out. Hope this helps. Cheers Simon T www.2ridetheworld.com |
