Crossing the Med
I'm curious to know what anyone might think of using the Alicante - Oran or Algiers ferry. Are they a complete no-no ? I note CS and others have no worries about Marseille-Algiers. What I realy want is the most cost effective way of getting into Algeria :helpsmilie:, if its Mars/Tun and an extra day so be it. Whats the call from the experts..............?

As it happens I'm trying out the overnight Alicante - Oran next Feb, partly to try something new and partly as Algiers seems to be so expensive. Fuel in Spain is cheap too, last I knew.
AFAIK there are 2 a week or more in winter for about £700 return with a regular 4x4 and an en suite cabin. Some guy did a good report here I think (or LP TT?) about a year ago, with hotel details, etc on the road south to Taghit and Kerzaz. I imagine Oran's got to be less hassle than busy Algiers. Ch |
Thanks Chris, your thoughts on the other crossings?

If you mean Tunis (Genoa-Tunis being cheaper AFAIK), it's popular. You can get to Nefta just before the border in 6 hours or so on quiet roads.
