Dakar Rally kidnap plot foiled

Reported on the BBC website that French intelligence had foiled a plot to attack the recent Dakar Rally

A friend has just noted to me -
"Interesting, in as much, as there is an AFP report asserting that Algerian military entered N. Mali (very covertly) back in December and 'collected' all the hostage takers - with their arms and equipment -
and took them back home!!!!"
