Diesel in Algeria
Hi,
Preparing my next trip in Algerian Sahara I need to know if these petrol stations are (almost) everytime furnished (diesel) : Zaouatenlaz,In Ecker,Ideles (I didn't know there was a petrol station in this last palce). Thanks for your replies. RR. |
In Ekker: reliable, usually. Alternative: In Amguel
Bordj El Haoues, Ideles: unreliable Diesel shortage may happen for a day or two even in Tam, Djanet, In Salah. |
Thanks a lot Yves for your quick reply.

Sorry to hijack thread but is Algeria related. Can you cross from Mali into Algeria, I cant seem to find out for definite ? I plan to head up to Tunisia (coming across from Dakar) in December and would rather not go all the way through Niger. There looks a possible crossing north of Gao, and then hoping to find a route across to Tamanghassat. If this route is ok, are there enough petrol stations on route. Many thanks in advance. |
Hi Dave,
Gao - Bordj Moktar - Tam or Gao - Kidal - Tin Zaouaten - Tam are possible on the usual pistes but crossing northern Mali thees days is pretty risky - not recommanded. From the border with Algeria there is no fuel until Tam. In Gao, Kidal, Tessalit there is fuel. And you might find on the black market in villages. Better have sufficient autonomy. Yves |
Also possible Gao - Kidal - Timiaouine - Tamanrasset, the route we took in May, and I believe is the safest at this time.
Best to bring your own fuel. You can probably find it in Kidal and perhaps buy some from truck drivers but you do not want to be stranded in these parts. |
