Hi Janusz,

I apologize in advance for my ignorance in this stuff, but I downloaded the file from
Africa Topo OSM (ready to install in Base Camp):
http://www.gmaptool.eu/en/content/africa-osm-topo

but cannot figure out how to load for use with Mapsource/nroute. I tried adding .exe extension and running, but didn't seem to do anything. Can you help?

Another question- if I get the digital IGN maps I understand that they are raster maps. Do I need something like Oziexplorer to use these, or is there a way to use them with nroute? I also have a Garmin Nuvi (came with the with the vehicle- don't have it in my possession yet) and an ipad. Any additional advice appreciated!

thanks, Rick

The download comes with 7z extension. Have you unpacked it first?
Try with your file manager, or download original packer: 7-Zip (free, opensource)

Edit: after unpacking please read Readme.txt:

Quote:

Installing maps for Windows
----------------------------
Maps are archived with 7-zip http://www.7-zip.org/

Unpack the map in a convenient place on HDD. For Windows Vista or newer to install click at batch "install_MAP.bat", where "MAP" is the name of downloaded region. Batch will create symbolic links from Garmin directory to the map. Installation process doesn't copy any files, program on PC will use your unpacked files.

Install batch automatically unistalls previous version of the map without removing map files.

For older Windows you can install map manually. In this case you need to copy whole *.gmap directory to a valid Garmin maps directory. To find valid directories run "maps_windows.bat".
