Djanet Algeria Safety
Hallo,
I am new to HUBB and would appreciate your thoughts of you experienced Sahara travelers. Two of us are planning to go on a 8-day Sahara camping trip around Djanet with a well-established agency recommended on this forum earlier. Based on the helpful posts from Chris Scott and Andrasz over the last week, I assume there are no current "crisis" problems around Djanet, and that it is fine to go there in two weeks time. Thanks in advance for your perspective. |
Hello and welcome to the HUBB.
In the big picture, nothing has changed over the past couple of weeks. It was pretty sleepy & quiet down there last month, with a discreet but omnipresent security. As far as the Sahara goes these days, it is a reasonably safe area, I'm sure you will have a fantastic trip. There are a few sensible precautions though, especially in light of the fact that very few people go there so any foreigners stick out even more. Keep a low profile, do not talk to anyone about your plans and itinerary, and suggest editing your post so as not to have any reference to your exact travel time. Many people read these posts... Safe travels, have fun and do tell us about your experiences when you're back. |
