Drinkable Water
What is you opinion about making water drinkable?
For 30 years , I used Micropur(Katadyn) in my car's tank without any problem . I used to re-fill my tank anywhere in africa (gas-station,camping,...) But , some people told me that Micropur can only be used to KEEP water drinkable and that I have to used products with "chlore" to make water drinkable. Thanks for your replies. RR. |
Hello!
The last 35 years I have used Iodine - 3 drops (5%) per litre - newer failed! Greetings Randa |

There excists two (actually three) types of Micropur.
Others use chlorine/chloride/chlore (?) to clean their water containers (flush plentyfull afterwards) and preserve their water with a few drops of chlorine. I can imagine it disinfects too but don't think it's healthy when used in to big quantities for a to long period. Which brings us to the third type of Micropur.
On the other side, if you used the Classic for 30years, it put things in perspective about water quality in Africa ! (and the thoughness of ones body). cheers. |

Wow, this is the most simple version of this 'system' I've ever seen.
Nice found. Beautifull, beautifull. |
Thanks a lot ,
I think , for my next trip, I'll use Micropur Forte (may be with antichlorine to remove the chlorine's bad taste). RR. |
Many people don't like Iodine because of potential adverse affects. I use Chlorine-based purifiers. So my water tastes a bit like a swimming pool.......! I can live with that.

Seagull iv
I installed one of these in my truck a few years back and despite filling in some very dodgy places I've never had a hint of the runs let alone anything worse. First rate product.

I found this one quite usefull. Compact, easy to use, and durable. Used it diligently and never had the runs.
MIOX : Products : MSR MIOX Purifier Pen It's a bit pricy to be honest. But worth the money if you ask me. |

The simplest ...
Just drink the water. It is usually not as bad. Never had problems in last 3 years. Just dare. Nouakchott, Bamako, Conakry all have good drinking water. Look at it, sniff at it, if really u think it's rotton don't use it, buy a bottle. Really washing hands is more important.
