The eclipse is coming - do the Libyans know?
In March 2006 a major total solar eclipse will cut straight through Libya (and also Niger and a remote part of Chad) - many commercial and private tours are currently being organized in Europe and the U.S. to bring people there.
Now worries that mounting that this influx of tour groups might overtax the local supply of 4WD cars, the availibility of competent guides etc. Does anyone know whether the Libyan authorities are aware of a) the eclipse and b) the possible shortage of crucial supplies? The eclipse is *the* chance to put their country back on the map of international tourism, but it doesn't come free: E.g. it may be necessary to temporarily bring in fleets of 4WDs from abroad, and someone in a high place has to organize it ... I'm sure Libyan agencies are well aware of the coming eclipse and are rubbing their hands in glee.
Whether they will think there is a need to organise anything special (other than increase their prices) is another matter - its probably too soon to tell. I dont think the country will be as over run as you think (I hope not) Chris S |
Thanks for the notice.
As Company speaking we are till now working to face this coming good job, but we also believe that at the time the actually government's scheduled course to run a top level tourism reception will be ended and there will be no need to manage with extra independent cars, in order to avoid mess. The cost of trip will be also cheaper with local agencies car's and travelling facilities that will be provided by time. Salam Budrinna |
