Diesel is plentiful in Egypt and called "Solar" if you need to ask for it or find out which pump it is. What do you think all the trucks use?

And bear in mind that if you take your diesel LC (or any other car) into Syria, you'll get hit with a US$100 PW Diesel tax.

for egypt you have to have a valid carnet from the orginial country and you have to make sure that it is written that it is valid for Egypt otherwise there is no way to get into Egypt.
For Libya you can get your Carnet at the border everyone will get that for you will cost around 100euro/car (if you already have a carnet you will safe that)
Tunis no Carnet is needed.
To get a Libya Visa on the Frontier for crossing that will not exsist. You have to contact a Libyen company to write you an invitation and with that and with the necessary papers from the country you can get your visa finally at the frontier
Syria it is right you pay an extra fee for diesel engines around 100Us$ even if you cross the country in 1 day the fee is always the same.
Traveling with animals is very risky you will face plenty of problems crossing each frontier, so please do your self and the animals a favour and leave them this time at home

Hmmmmm

I've travelled with my car and my dog since more than 30 years (each year) in countries such Lybia,Egypt,Syria,Algeria,... without any problem.
And I think it's better to cross these kind of border post because they don't like to open the rear door and see my dog lookin at them...

please consider that times have changed 30 years ago is a long time. Since 1 year plenty of things changed. So hear are some facts.
Libya Closed the border to Egypt completely not only for animals but also for humans.
The schools in Egypt were not opened after the summer vacation and are still closed as the people are afraid. The is rubbish lying around in Cairo as the goverment killed all the pigs in town who used to eat plenty of that...

what do you think they will do with your dog...they will welcome him...for sure...

everyone is free and can do what he likes..I yust give you a hint that times changed and that you might have less problems if you travel without...
for sure there is no general rule for that. Some one will pass like always the second one will have major problems

I know there was some confusion last year about the border being closed, but do you have a reference for your information? Or is it just gossip?

I said it was closed that is not the case now. Now as a tourist you can pass, but the egyptains they are not allowed to cross only going to Libya by plane. So the situation now is that the frontier is open again

so as no egyptains are allowed to cross, what about animals! I ve no informations on that: So if you think of taking your peds with you, you should think twice because I don't know if the animals will be respected more than egyptains!!!
