Gao to Timbuktu
 

Which is the easiest route to drive from Gao to Timbuktu in a 2 wheel drive car (Peugeot 505). And can it be done in a day? …around end of March.

Tombouctou - Douentza our car has just done it (without us) in 3,5 hours time, road should be in a rather good condition. Then Duentza - Gao 586 km tarmac.
So if you leave very early ..... and have no problems with the Tombouctou ferry, one day should be possible.... but why not spend a night in Hombori? Or when doing Gao - Tombouctou , spend the night in Douentza; lovely market on Sundays!
