Gateway to the Sahara
I have a photo taken in 1993 whilst driving south in Morocco of a sign by the side of the road.
It was, I think, in the anti-Atlas. The sign was in 3 languages, and says: Province de Guelmin, Sahara's Door I'm guessing there are a few people on this forum that have similar photos!! Where is it, exactly?! Thanks, Sam. |
nobody?!
Does anyone remember seeing it back then, has it gone?
Thanks, Sam. |
Guelmin is alternative transliteration for what most maps call Goulimine, though it's also referred to as Goulimime and Goulmim. If you were heading south, then yes, the sign would have probably been on the edge of the Anti Atlas.
I spent three days there in 1972, negotiating for an ammunition chest full of 'Goulimine beads'. living site Guelmim - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Venetian beads ??? I went back this year and couldn't recognise anything. Tim |
