How good is the off-rode in Tunisia
Hi,
I spent 6+ years off-rode riding in the western desert in Egypt, 3 in the UAE and Oman (and sneakining into Saudi) and the last 2 years in Libya in the Ubari area (way too over crowded and torn up) and Murzuq (outstanding). What about Tunisia? How does is compare? Thanks, Steve |
IMHO, not so well compared to the places you mention. Even less so with the new restrictions down south which may well have started today.

Thanks for your thoughts. Bummer about the restrictions.

you can get very good off-roads in tunesia, mountain roads, desert....
but tn is very small, when you know libya, egypt and the other countries. but for one or two weeks, it will be ok and you can have much fun in the dunes. |

Yes, Tunisia is a small country, and yes, the restrictions have made some of the more remote routes unavailable, however if you like driving up and down sand dunes there are still plenty of routes available, ie head for the flat top mountain of Tembain from the north west, the El Faouar area, and you'll find some good dunes, one day in December we only managed 14 miles in a day (about 6 hours of driving, 4 vehicles).
