Any advice re car insurance for a 3-month trip starting from Morocco ... I'm based in the UK.

We used Secure Direct as an agent for NIG Skania, the usall GB insurance covered us for fully comp in Europe and Morocco. I doubt if they will cover further south as they classed Morroco as Europe. Make sure you check you green card as they churn out loads of "standard" ones which exclude Morocco even though we had asked. This happend on two different trips and they had to re issue them. So apply with plenty of time so you can get a second one if necessary. If you want vehicle cover for most of Africa a company in London could cover you but you have to pay for 12 months. We used them for 6 months then got a full refund on the remaining 6. Blackmore Diplomatic Services I think they were.

Yes,
An insurance broker in the Netherlands. They insurance a car third party liability for all african countries. We had no trouble with that insurance, on the contrary: countries where you usually have to buy an insurance at the border, accepted our document! Unfortunately, I don't have their details handy as my husband is still on the way back with the whole file. If that is still in time and if you write me, I can give you all the details from the 12th September on (Bea@prepare2go.com). Good luck. Beatrice |
The Insurance broker is called Alessie Assurantie kantoor. You will find all their details at http://www.alessie.com.

You can buy Third Party insurance at each border as you go along if you wish. This includes Morocco and all West African countries.
