Libia Tour Companies
Hi
Could you help me with choosing guide in Libia. We will visit Libia in March by 4WD car. I spoke with Hadi Bkai from Fessano and Sami from Almuhhet. Of course they want to guide us. But there is a lot of difference in money they want to get for this. Now I really don't know what I have to do. Could you help us what to choose? |
I strongly advise your to make clear what this guide' s capacities should be. What you expect from him and definitely make sure who feeds him, who accomodates him, who brings his tent & blanket / sleeping bag. Presume that you have already made that but the offers were of a rather general kind. Cannot tell you what the actual price should be (so many variables) but be sure that what is too cheap in the offer will cost during the course of the trip.

Three years ago I was with Hadi from Fessano. I was absolutely satisfied.
In February I will go to Libya again and I select Hadi once more. Does anybody have new information about Acacus and Uwbari Sand Sea? Few months ago were problem with permission. |
I have just returned from Libya on Sunday - absolutely no problems with permissions for Acacus and Uwbari Sand Sea.

HI Tom,
You said :"absolutely no problems with permissions for Acacus and Uwbari Sand Sea". Does it includes Anai pass and also the track along Algerian border south of Akakus ? We were told these areas are forbidden because they are too much close Algeria. Same question for the route beetween Ghadames and Serdeles along west border. RR. |
I was refering to the routes which were closed during the gilf kebbir kidnaping.
but roro you are right - the southern part of Akakus is still closed as far as we were told - so for example you can not enter Akakus from Ghat. Regarding route between Ghadames and Serdeles we were told that all the guides are now avoiding the "algerian tree" etc... so the piste is now entierly on lybian territoriy. We did the piste from Ghadames directly to ghat and we were all the time in libya. If I remember correctly the shortest distance to Algerian border was aprox. 10 km. Regards, Tomaz |
