Libyan transit visa in Tunis?
I've read here and on LP that it's possible to obtain a transit visa at the Libyan consulate in Tunis, permitting traveling without a guide for seven up to ten days. I'm wondering if this still holds true recently...I'd like to know whether anyone has obtained it successfully or has been turned down in recent weeks, and what nationality he or she is and reasons given if they've been refused. I'm a Taiwanese and American passport holder, but I will use my Taiwanese passport to apply given the chances of success may be higher. And also I'll be traveling solo on public transport and will fly into Tunis from London in late June on an overland trip to Egypt. Thanks for any helpful tips.

no Americans!
Don't mention the American link, you'll go nowhere.

When filling your application form for visa, you will be requested to mention if you are holder of others passport and /or other nationality so it is useless to hide the double nationality or use others triks. In case of a control on place your risk to loose time if you take with you boot passports. This not only in Libya but in many other countries, Africa and out of Africa . A good agency in London can solve your problem. Lot of US citizens are nowadays travelling freely the country.

US/Libyan relations are happily on the mend. Both countries have been normalizing relations since Libya went transparent about WMD- among other things, as South Africa did a long time ago. The US and Libya now have Embassies in each others countries. I might be heading to Libya in the next two weeks, I'll let you guys know what happens regarding a transit visa if I do. For the record, the Libyan government lifted all restrictions on US passport holders for travel to, in and through Libya as of February, 2004. Having a US passport has never been a negative on my trip, alot of people ask me about that. Good luck Giugo. Ride safe everyone. H.

If you're flying into Tunis from London, use your Taiwanese Passport to enter Tunis...then you can offer that to the Libyan embassy when you fill out their form.
I applied for a Libyan visa in March of 2007. See the post below for details... http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...or-libya-25715 |
