Mauritania Border Visa...
Hi all,
Can one obtain a Mauritanian visa at the border (coming from Morocco)?? Also, going from Mauritania into Morocco, are there any border issues, do I need a permit or visa entering Morocco from Mauritania?? Thanks, Aaron |
I entered 5 years ago from Marocco into Mauretanie and got the Visa stamped in my passport at the border, also the motorbike was stamped into the passport. But i do not know if this is still the same!

It is possible to buy a visa for Mauretania when entering from Morocco, this has been discussed before. If you need a permit for Morocco or not clearly depends on your citizenship. As far as I know visas are issued on the spot for most EU citizens.

Hi,
Plenty of traffic around the railway, especially SNIM maintenance cars and trucks. In the right season there are also plenty of tourists. You can rent a taxi in Nouadhibou or Atar, no problem. But try to find out first about local trucks heading for Atar or NDB. Anyway, in case of trouble, as long as you stay close to the railway there will be people from small villages and sephards that can give you a hand. Plenty of people in the area between Ben Amera and Choum ;-) Cheers, José |
Sorry! The above reply was for another post.
Anyway, the above mentioned is correct. José |
lonely planet writes to buy the mauri visa in rabat, but that's wrong (I was there)
It is in casablanca 382 route al jadida beausejour tel 022257373 or 022257878 you need 3 photos and it costs 200 dirhams (or 20 euro) takes 24 hours good luck |
in a hurry
But, if you don't have 24hrs, then get it at the border... - it's a little more expensive.

I just got my visa in Casa three days ago. I went the morning and I picked it up the afternoon. No problems.
Another issue to consider though, is that the visa is from date of issue. So if you're planning to be in Morocco for a while you might end up in Mauritania with very little time left on your visa. |
