Morocco Oil Worries
Hello all from Casablanca.
Maybe Im being stupid but I cant find 4 stroke motorcycle oil anywhere in Morocco. A maroc bike cop told me to use car engine oil - any tips? Ta Simon |
I would regard a "motorcycle oil" as pampering the bike a bit!
Don't know what machine you're riding, but the only differences are that you may have a wet clutch and gearbox to contend with. I would use the best quality mineral oil you can get, and avoid synthetics which some say don't agree with wet clutches. Years ago, bikes used to want 10W-40 and such-like when cars wanted 20W-50, but these days most seem to prefer the lighter grades, so I would have thought any 4-wheeler oils will be OK. A heavier oil might be preferable in a Saharan summer though. Good luck! And don't worry too much. ------------------ www.aslc43.dsl.pipex.com [This message has been edited by IanC (edited 24 October 2004).] |
What you need are oils with SE or lower written on the back. These oilds do not contain the friction modifying chemicals of the SF-SH oils that are for turbos and modern engines. If you are on adry clutch i.e. BMW Twin then any oil will work. A wet cltch XT- XR etc then get the SE mineral oils.
Juts go ask in the petrol station for SE oil. I had no problems anywhere in Marco Marco bike cops are the best I got a high speed escort through RABAT by the bike cops when I stopped for directions. Charlie [This message has been edited by braindead (edited 01 November 2004).] |
