Morocco / Ouarzazate tot Nigeria / Lagos travel tips wanted
Hi Fellow motorbike travelers,
Begin january 2010 i'm flying back to Ouarzazate in Morocco. Left my bike there in the bikershome for my next adventure. I plan to drive to Nigeria / lagos and leave my bike there again with local friends. End of february i have to fly back to belgium. My bike is a yamaha tenere 2008 and i was wondering if i needed more fuel to carry with me for safety. I had THIS in mind: 2 gallons extra fuel and 2 gallons water. For the route i had in mind to: - Cross the western Sahara along the coast to Noaukchott - then to Bamako / mali - to Ouagadougou / Burkina Faso - to Parakou / Benin - and last Lagos / Nigeria Any tips about a better route, money, visa, whatever are welcome. Visa for Mauretania i will get in Brussels. thx to this thread already. |
From Ouga to Lagos, you should not need extra fuel. You will meet a fuel selling point at least every 100km or so.
Bottle water all along your route from shops and truck stops. No harm in leaving whatever fuel you have in storage onboard though. I always carry a spare gallon. |
thx for replying. my trip is postponed to december due a breakdown of my yamaha Teneré in Morocco.
Meanwhile i met this guy in ouarzazate: Africa by Moto: Morocco he is driving to south afrika. |
Nice of you selling him the parts from your bike. Well done.
I will be heading Bikershome in few weeks. Hope finding good people as you. From Nairobi to Cape Town. A fantastic trip on a BMW Motorcycle across Africa Back to Africa |
the man from Scotland was very thankfull indeed. Otherwise he had to wait for parts from England by post.
'Good for my karma' he said. :-) When you arrive at the bikershome you will see my poor Yamaha Teneré: Picasa Web Albums - Boniface - Teneré taken ... ps: i've bookmarked your blog. Impressing! |
