Number of people in a vehicle
What are people's experiences on the number of people you can comfortably (space and group dynamics)and safely (bearing in mind water equipment needs etc)travel with in a single long wheel base vehicle?
Imagine a desert intinerary with a duration in excess of two weeks. |
Hi ctc,
Two is a crowd, but I've travelled once with a family of five in a LR 110. ------------------ Roman (UK) www.polandrover.com |
I would say 3 people would be great. Use the fourth seat for quick get to items like camera bags and rucksacks. But you can accommodate 4 easily, it will just be a bit more crowded.

We had eight of us in two Land Rover 110 from London to Sydney (seven months). You can do it, you just end up with a lot on the roof!! (see other thread!).

Had did the 110 perform offroad with four onboard and an expedition payload?

They were okay (!). Both 2.5 non-turbo diesels, so desperately under-powered anywhere but generally no problems. We drove extremely carefully off-road - more for fear of breaking components than anything else. We finished with 3 days on Fraser Island (the world's largest sand island) and they did extremely well in the Sahara similar conditions.
Lowering tyre pressure and careful driving are the key, they just get more important as you get heavier! Would have liked a TDi though (as now fitted!). Sam. |
