Obtaining a Mauritania visa in Senegal

Everywhere I look for information about a Mauritania visa, it always says how easy and cheap they are to get in Rabat. However, there is never advice for people coming the opposite direction. Is there somewhere in Senegal or Gambia where I can get a Mauri visa swiftly and easily?

Otherwise, would it be advisable to get one in the UK? Does anywhere know where they issue them in the UK and how to apply?

Thanks in advance

I would like some info on this too. Am going to need to get a visa in a month from Mauri's Dakkar embassy.

Is it as bad as Rabat?
Same sort of paperwork to submit?
Cost?

I heard it is a two day process - true?

thanks,

Phil

Bad as Rabat? I heard Rabat is quite good. Two days is fine, but I am just surprised because there is information all over the internet about getting it in Rabat and NONE that I can find about Dakar.

Are you a Brit aswell Phil? I found out today about how to get the visa in the UK, it's not too expensive or complex except for the nasty kicker that you have to make an appointment and apply in person in London.... and they only have morning slots so if you live out of london it would be difficult to do in a day.

Mori visa in uk???!
I got one here in 2007 but thought that nowadays there was no way....

In 2007 I went to the mori embassy in London in the morning, waited about an hour & left with 4 visas , they didnt ask which way i was travelling......think it is different now though.

Yeah - rather confusingly they are now done through the private company which the French consulate has outsourced it's visa processing to - TLS contact. What you do is sign up to their website https://www.tlscontact.com/gb2fr/login.php and submit an application request filling in a lot of incorrect information as the form is designed for out of EU people applying for French visas so it wont let you sign up with nationality UK, then you phone them up and give them the correct details and they edit it, then you make an appointment to go get the visa. The bitch is that you have to go to London, cant be done by post. But otherwise seems fairly simple.

mauri visa in Gambia

Hi
The Mauritanian Embassy is the first left on the road opposit the Senegambia strip, which is on the coastal highway.
It takes 2 days at the most, & the cost depends on which of the three options you take, we got one for 1 month & it cost us 93 EUROS & we got a receipt for 30,000 ogs which is a lot less than 93 euros ?.:confused1:

visa from Dakar

we managed to get a couple of visas within a day but did use the embassy staff at the british consulate to smooth the way, the Mauri embassy is near the grand mosque in Dakar but try to keep copies of vital documnets, a french couple had been trying for nearly 4 days to get a visa which was proving very hard because the embassy had lost some paperwork and felt it was the french couples problem

Got Mauri visa in Dakar. around 50 euros and I got it next day. there was no big rush so you dont need to be there hours before opening hours (like Rabat). you need copies of documents and they didnt want to accept cash. had to drive few blocks away to bank and transfer them money.

however no problems, just too expencive =)

Do you have an address for them?

What copies do they want? We'll be doing visas and vehicle papers in the next few days.

cruiser guy 5 Feb 2013 16:59

Applied for the visa today. 41,000CFA/visa payable at the bank, two passport photos, copy of passport information page. We pick up the visa tomorrow morning.

I'm told all vehicle stuff happens at the borders. Nothing to be done at the embassy. Is that correct?

Thanks for the excellent advise guys - you have saved me a trip to London!
