Purchase Toyota Landcrusier
I read on the site that there is a firm in Holland that sells used United Nations'Toyota 4*4s. Had the name & address etc. I can't find it again.
Can anyone help? Either in Holland or anywhere else. Regards |
There must be hundreds kicking around Sarajevo. Relieving the UN of their toyotas was a national pastime about 7 years ago!
Sam. Sorry, not terribly helpful! |

Sahara Overland updates? I wouldn't go there!
I was going to mention this later but I may as well now. For my latest scam I am considering bringing in a 75-series 11 seater Troop Carrier or two from Central Australia to flog in the UK . In rust-free Alice one can buy mid 90s white ex-govt Troopies (4.2/six, non turbo) for about 25K AUD with twin tanks (180L), snork, roo bar and sometimes winch etc - all RHD (like UK). Govt vehicles must have any KNOW faults declared and some are lightly used. I have a local mate who knows the troopie auction scene and would sort out the shipping, etc Realistically you are looking at around 10-11 thousand pounds on the road in the UK after VAT + 4%. Troopies were never sold in the UK but are a big, tough overland bus (see the book) - round here you cant move for them. Anyone seriously interested, let me know. Thanks for the advice. I have been thinking of buying one here and shipping it over to Europe and driving it down to West Africa in Feb' 2003. Do you see any problems in driving a right hand vechile in Morocco, Western Sahara and Mauritania & Senegal, apart from the obvious, do the police have any problems etc? Look forward to your reply. Absolutely no problem with a right hand drive - possibly even an advantage in terms of being less interesting to thieves.
Just don't go near Vietnam with it!!! Sam. |
Hi Chris
I could be interested in an imported Troopie or otherwise - send me an email and I will get in touch. Cheers ------------------ ChrisC |
Hi Tubarao

Hi Chris, 75 or 78?
Just finishing up 12000 km in a 78 and cant say I can tell the difference. Chris S |
Hi Chris
what is the difference between a 75 and 78? Is the 78 the one with front coils? Are they both 4.2 (non-turbo) Diesel? Cheers ------------------ ChrisC |
Yes and yes is the answer. Pretty juicy it has to be said, the best I have managed is 7.8 kpl @ 100 kph, but mine has a high roof.
