rally granada-dakar 1999
 

hi


in 1999 the piste between TAN TAN and BIR MOGREIN was used in the rally.

I know this subject was raised a few times...
but...

if it was used in the rally paris(granada)-dakar it's a know and safe piste... right?

no one put any more and land mines in the Sahara occidental since 1999...

did any one did this piste in the last months?

is it legal to enter mauritania in BIR MOGREIN?

The rally has taken this way a couple of times, the last if I remember was 2002. I also heard that a support truck drove over a land mine and one of the crew was badly injured (dont know if this is true or not). The passage was seemingly cleared by one or both sides.

There are definitly some smugglers routes that cross the border. The last I definitly know (1995) is that it is illegal to leave Morocco like this but legal to enter Mauritania.
