RIM visa
Hi
Are Mauritanian visas valid for a determined period of time or by entry? one visa meens one entry in the country? What about getting the visa at the border with morocco? How fast/easy is it these days? How much? Thanks, Renato |
Hy!
The visa is valid for 1 entry done till 1 month from the delivery date... My infos says that taking it at the border it's more expensive than in Europe or in Casablanca. It's also unclear if needed! officially they could not ask for it...!?!?!? but it's better to have. by |
as of Last April , Visas are definitely needed to enter RIM . Visas are easily obtained in a few hours in RIM's consulate at Casablanca ,near the Camping (Not Rabat any more) .
It cost just 10 EUR , valid up to a month , Single Entry (that's was non negociable !) . IT IS NO LONGER REQUIERED THE AIR TICKETS thing. Last April , I meet two italian bikers (in BYCICLES , I mean !) , that cycled all the way down to the border (Fort Guerguerat !) , and even made it to the Mauritanian Border . They DIDNT HAVE VISA , neither appeared to have money . (At least they couldnt neither afford the 10 EUR customs/police fee) . (-actually , they didnt appear to know what a VISA was -at all-)!!!! . To my surprise ... I saw them in a few days in NOUADIBBOU . Apparently , after days of insistence camping by the Mauritanian checkpoint , they were issued a "temporary" visa on the border .... for free . In brief : It is possible to get Visa at the border , and maybe even possible to enter Mauritania without a Visa .... but honestly ... Getting a RIM visa in Casablanca is extremely smooth , cheap and convenient... (compared to elsewhere in Africa ) . 10 EUR and a little nice time in Casa gives you great peace of mind in F. Gueguerat. Have fun !. >>>Are Mauritanian visas valid for a >>>determined period of time or by entry? >>>one visa meens one entry in the country? >>>What about getting the visa at the border >>>with morocco? Hi,
You can get your visa here, in Lisbon, from the Consulado Geral da Mauritânia (213010835 or 919695667). You will need a valid passport, two photos and €30,00 (one month). Regards, NCR (going there in September) |
How to reach Mauritanian consulate in Casa? I will be on my own, travelling by public transport (I can not find the place on any guide-maps I have). Any tips?
Thx |
>>Any tips on getting the visa at CASA?
Hi !! . You will need 3 photocopies of your passport (the page with your details ) . There's an abusive expensive photocopy shop near . You also need 3 photos of yourself (or was it 2? ) and 100 DH . If arrive with a car , it will be difficult to avoid the "parking guardians" , which populate nearby . It takes about 3 hours , and if arrive early (8 AM -9 AM it will be definitely ready by 12) . At the purest African style .. there's no a queue . just a group of people in the door . Some of them are military , some of them are Mauritanians , some of them are morocc police ,moroccans triying to get a Visa ,and some of the just hustlers ) . It is not clear who's who , so be cautious !. You are supposed to give your passport , photos , copies , etc... to someone which CAMES OUT FROM THE CONSULATE BUILDING . Go with him inside ... and then you pay your 100 DH fee (10Eur) .Answer a few absurd questions to the consul herself (Its a woman! ) , and get out of the building. Get back the Consulate in 3 hours... and hopefully they handle (trought the doors'railings) your passport . As someone said , it is a good idea to have some "sticker" in your passport so you can recognize it from a heap of similar passports . (note that during the whole operation , you are NOT issued with any receipt of the passport ) . That's ok . -for them- . The consulate itself is near the Camping (the exact coordinates are in "the atlantic route" section in CS's Web. Id suggest you to take a cab . They have ridicously cheap fares . Hope this helps ... |
