Saharamaps
Hello all,
I've just stumbled across this website: www.saharamaps.com Has anyone used thier sat maps? Are that any different / better than those supplied by TTQV, like QV Navigator? Would they be of any use for navigiating with TTQV4? Any comments will be appreciated. |
Hi Roman,
You can download MrSid images from all over the world with: https://zulu.ssc.nasa.gov/mrsid/ These are Landsat images from the 90's with excellent resolution (25 meters). Images come in *.sid format (around 200Mb), and are ready to use in common GIS (ArcMap) or navigators (Ozyexplorer). But the best is that they are for free :-) Cheers, José |
José,
Thanks. I used to have a link to this service but they have chganged the URL address. Saharamaps claim their maps come from NASA/JPL-Caltech, are 15m resolution, ECW compressed, and also made by Landsat7. Are these different maps and if so, does that mean that NASA also make them available for free? |
