Chris what are the dimensions of the tank and is it baffled.
What else is on the market, whats with the clear out are you up for a vehicle change.

I'm pretty sure Dennis wants the tank - its sits over the back axle as wide as the interior, as high as the window base and about a forearm front to back. - Is it baffled - can't tell, but it's a well built Grand Erg jobbie that brings home 6 months of African DERV.

For TLCs I know of 2 aux tank makers in Australia - long ranger and range longer or something - plus 'Outback' in Germany. They do LRs too. In the UK all you have is various blokes in sheds - but it could work out cheaper on a simple shape.

Not yet. I've always prefered underbody tanks and anyway want the space inside for bike tours. And I'm testing some parabolics which seem to be the best of both worlds. I'm sure I'll flog my old leaves in Alg 10 times over. And in Agadez 100 times..

There's life in my old bus yet ;-)

Hi Col, I'm keeping it as I can't afford an underbody version at the moment. And unless you have a 60 it would be a bit of a waste, IMHO

Thanks Chris, I realise it might have needed a few mod, but it dosent really matter as it is`nt on the market anyway. Roman has a link on his site to some one who makes plastic one which I`ll check out, I`ve also been scanning various truck breakers for a decent sized plastic one.

Just out of curiosity, Chris, or perhaps more for the technical insight, why are you selling off the Old Man Emu and Ironman? Is it because you don't have a matched set? What are you thinking of getting as a replacement? I ask because I'm currently doing a major re-fit of my own 60-series. Thanks.

I was flogging them because I was given a prototype set of parabolics to test in the desert.

The fronts worked fine on trip 1, then broke right through on trip 2 (same happened to a mate in an LR with same paras). I flogged the Ironmen in Tam so came home on the bump stop.
The back paras fitted for trip 2 (see 'Few Dollars' report) were hopelessly soft even before I pulled out of the yard - so I floggd them in Djanet and refitted the OMEs which I had bought just in case and was going to sell on the way back home.

Moral: You cant get a quart out of a pint pot (or whatever it goes like) - or - 2 thick springs are less than 6 or 7 thin springs. My new chunky fronts arrive tomorrow from Italy. Luckily I can do a spring swap blindfold now...

OME - vg but expensive - I am amazed the hammering they take.
Ironman - a bit crappy but cheap
Protobolics - not up to desert driving
Italian h/d fronts - dky
