Sand mats/plates
Are sand mats of the "rubber/steelcable tank tread" kind any good? They seem like an ok idea since they can be rolled up and take little space. How are they compaired to sand plates?

I was talking to an ex-Australian military man and he said do not bother with the sandplates just cut some of your metal fence out and get 2 pegs. He assured me it will work a treat. As you also said it rolls up nicelly.

You don't need sand plates at all.
correct tyre pressures, and a GOOD compressor Sam |
The only guy I know who tried roll up sand mats said they tended to bunch up during recovery so not much good - it seems the rigidity of a plank is better - but even a roll of canvas will do the job - with a pair of rigidifying side poles like a strecher, maybe...
Anyway, spend little time, money and effort as you'll hardly use them, if ever. Chris S |
