Situation Mauritania ??
 

At the end of October I start my trip from Belgium to South Africa (on a bike).

My question : How is the situation to travel through Mauritania ?

I'm afraid the police, or even the soldiers, won't let you go to the east; the only secure route in Mauritania now is the main road from NDB to NKC :(

The route seems OK to me. There might be several military checkpoints, especially east of Atar. If you have a local guide, they shouldn't bother.

On a different topic, I would abstain from showing in public internet places (as this one!) exact routes as the one showed. Also, do not state exact dates for your trip. This is a very simple and effective measure for not turning into a target...

Thanks José to make this warning again.
Another solution can be giving a false route and obtain informations via private email.
