Sudan
We want to know what the customs requirements are for entering Sudan with a landrover registered in South Africa. Our SA carnet does not cover Sudan.
What other requirements are there for a Dutch and Australian pasport and what must be done to get them? |
No carnet needed, entering Sudan with your own car is no problem at all. Visa can be a different story. If you have problems getting one contact George at Acropole hotel in Khartoum (use google to find his telephonenumber or e-mailadress - I do not have them here). Normally he can arrange your visa within two weeks.

If you have a look in the sub-saharan section under the post "Sudan visa:London or Cairo" a few days, I have also listed the contact details for a travel agent in Khartoum who sorted out my Sudanese visa fairly promptly.
Just make sure you apply early, as the wait can be a while. |
Hi
We was in Sudan in 2002 and we dont have any trouble to go in with our car. (Swiss car)We had a carnet de passage valid for sudan but i'm sure that they didn't check at all for that. About visa, It was easy at this time to get one in the sudan embassy in Ethiopia without invitation letter of thing like that. We drove from Ethiopia to Sudan via Gedaref and the border was realy esay to cross. If you can, go to Sudan, It's worth to go in this beautiful coutry. Driving along the Nile and metting all this friendly people. Olivier |
