There is a guy (username Radi) on the lonely planet Thorn tree forum who is in Tibesti (Chad).He has made it to Kufra from Faya and is now heading to Sudan via Uweinat.His trip reports are incredible as with his knowledge of the sahara.

I couldn't find anything from Radi on Thorntree when i searched his name or Sudan...
