I've done some research on that as I'm taking my dog (Rhodesian Ridgeback) on a circumnavigation of Africa next year. Most important is the Rabies vaccination and a blood test certificate that the dog is Rabies free. This is valid for three years and is required by some African countries (and Spain). Have all this documented in the dog's passport. You need to do this at least 4 weeks in advance (as far as I remember). From what I know from other overlanders who have taken their dog, most African countries couldn't care less whether you have a dog with you or not. Nice dog, almost the same face than mine (except the color)!
I'm going to do same trip in autumn, also including Guinea Bissau and may be Guinea Konakry... RR |
How do you chaps get the dog there?
Dog in top box or by pillion? :eek3: or perhaps towed behind on a lead! doh Joking aside, I presume you are 4 wheel boys? I presume a dog can be taken in and out of Europe with a normal EU Pet passport? When it comes to crossing into the dark continent it's all about impressive looking (bogus) paperwork (with offical looking stamps) and ultimately backhanders and bribes once you pass into sub-Sahara Africa? Nice looking mut! |

Hilarious! A Dutchman teaching English! :eek3: Joking aside, I have yet to come across a Dutchman that doesn't speak excellent English. Dutch sounds a very difficult language to learn (for an Englishman). I guess we Brits have become lazy when it comes to learning other languages? Funny how the Dutch and English always get on so well... I presume it's a history/culture thing. Did you know that the Isle of Sheppey in Kent (UK) where I live was the last place in the UK to be invaded and conquered? By the DUTCH ! doh http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raid_on_the_Medway http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isle_of_Sheppey Couldn't have been all that bad being invaded by our best mates. |

:funmeteryes: Exactly, and that's why the Dutch have sex lives and good food, and the English have table manners and hot water bottles :D Cheers, Gee |
