TPC and ONC maps
fyi, I hear TPC and ONC maps will be getting scare - they're not being printed any more; I guess it's all gone digital.
They're not the best but do have their uses where other mapping is scare. Ch TPC/ONC review and index: Sahara Overland ~ Maps |

I’m still a fan of paper maps and I've just bought several TCP from Algeria in the website: Librairie de voyage Voyageurs du Monde - Librairie en ligne very fast |
BTW
Just one question concerning TPC maps: Can I use WGS84 with these maps? |
Hi friends,
I got mine TPC H-2 A from Stanfords. Also very quick delivery. They must send them with an IKEA voucher for a big table! Impossible to use outdoors! Rui T. Portugal |
You must put them in a scaner and them print them in a A3 ou A2 format!
(almoço na quarta feira em LX?) :) |
Good method. I just can use them at hotel beds. Good idea to print in A3 from an A4 map scan!
I´m sure to return to south Algeria next October / November. This time 2-3 weeks to get Tam. Ich' Allah! (lunch in Lisbon, next thursday is perfect, for me wednesday impossible; I must be there thursday anyway and lunch time available) Rui T. |
Contact Toby at Geopubs in the UK - they have most of them, are quick and good value.
Safe travels, Sam. |

I think this one is folded in two: http://www.actiontouring.com/pic/ugamap2.jpg The maps are okay for showing the topography but for roads and other manmade stuff there are better alternatives. |
Paper maps and strong wind

Hi, Mr. Norge. Thank you for your nice picture!
(By the way: any news from Helge visiting homeland? And congratulations for Pal Ullevalseter result in Chile-Argentina race!) The same problem, without the rocks help. It´s a nightmare, to check the map on location! Another picture about the same situation: Road Timimoun - El Golea / March 2010: (Rui - Portugal) |
Impossible to use in the desert wind! We traded our maps before they blew to shreads with the touaregs who really wanted them. We kept the GPS and the good book. ;)
