trans-sahara road

Sorry for my bad english..... I speak usually french. I plan to go to Chad for working in january 2006 & I plan to go there with a 4x4 (Hilux or Land Cruiser). I would like to ask you about the best road to go. I had already do the atlantic road once. I hear that you need a guide now to cross Algeria, Is it right? I read somewhere that north of Chad is very unsafe. And what about driving around lake Chad? Thanks a lot for you answer Olivier |
