Tubu in the Tenere
 

I'm looking at the feasibility of a semi-anthropological trip to find the Tubu in the Tenere desert. Can anyone help with info?

Specifically, it would be helpful to know locations of Tubu villages and any sense of the chances of finding nomadic or semi-nomadic tubu when using them as a base. Any experiences, tips about guides etc obviously greatly appreciated!

In Niger you can find Tubus in the region of Kaouar and Termit.
The best way to get a Tubu guide is asking in Chirfa, Dirkou or Bilma at the police or military station.

One ought to add that go out to the east tenere with anything worth nicking and some Tubu bandits might find you. The problem is guides out of Agadez are Tuareg and are rightly wary of north Kaouar Tubu.
I dont get the impression that many Kaouar Tubu lead a Nomadic existence any more - short of moving up the road to Djado for the date harvest - tho in north Chad they do and in termit maybe also.
