Hi we've just arrived in Tunisia, and plan to drive to Egypt through Libya. Has anyone done this recently or heard anything good or bad about the visa application process or chances of getting into Libya these days? Also does anyone have contact info for the LIbyan embassy or consulte here in Tunis? Got the addresses but cant find tel numbers or opening times. Cheers for now.

Our dear friend Genji on this forum spent weeks in Tunis last spring trying to get a transit visa while the Libyans were playing games with him. He was totally mad.

Then it was sorted with a tourist visa I believe. The key is to get hold of the right guy on the libyan side to sort you out. As someone suggested here - make a call to a professional agency on the other side. Sam Rutherford suggested Fessano, those are the ones who got Genji through. Perhaps they can help you, too.

I understood from Genji that you have this added problem where the libyan embassy are off Thu-Fri and then the Tunisians are off Sat-Sun leaving you only three days of the week to get the visas done. And if they stall ....then you may spend a lot of time in Tunis.
