Just 2 jears ago well have been there . Its an verry interresting Landscape but in fact of the remoute setting no playground for beginners. Smugglers, Bandits, and sometimes Rebells and even the Armys of the 3 states making the tripp in this corner somehowe to an adventure. Driving up from the Djado on the way back to Libya well crossed Algeria along the Messak Mellet Falaise like on an Highway. I have had a look at your site. You are planning a number of trips along and around the Tanezrouft/Algeria-Mali border area.

How many trips have you done there, and what dates - they went without incident?

6 months ago, the last time we have been there. No proplems at all. Put under normal circumstances we dont drive the Tanezrouft, because our mainroute leads from Timbuktu to Taoudenni and then directly into the Erg Chech to Atar (or return, its depending).
Sometimes we take an military escort from Timbuktu to Taoudenni, put I feel there more save than in many places in Europe.

Where do You travelling around that You know to write over 200 Posts in this Forum?

I was wondering - I'm always interested in those who go to the 'dangerous' places - it's where I often find myself, and then find the risk greatly reduced than it is supposed to be - although not always!!

With regard to all my posts (!), I have spent quite a lot of time in the deserts of four continents (about 20 months in total), mostly based in or about 4wds. Of Saharan and sub-Saharan west Africa, I have not been to Mauritania.

Becoming more interested in commercial operators (ran my first commercial trip last month, which went very well) - not sure how big the potential client base is, though!!

a few thoughts.
I was up at "Where Libya, Algeria and Niger meet" about four weeks ago.
It's all a bit bleak up there.

b25-c02. We crossed the Tenere from Adrar Bous to Emi Lulu. From, there
we went up toward In Ezzane and then south of Salvador on to Zouzoudinga
and back towards Emi Lulu. According to my companions we crossed back
into
Algeria, from Niger, at one stage.
Zouzoudinga is a god forsaken place. I would even goes as far as to say
that I felt sorry for the soldiers who had been stationed there at one
time.
>From Emi Lulu toward In Ezzane there were a lot of tracks and
intermittently lots of footprints. It seems that the passengers get out
and walk on some of the more difficult stages. It looked "well strange"
to suddenly encounter big numbers of footprints.
Other bits of interest.
Some very very odd rock formations after Zouzoudinga. Almost like
castoffs in an artists workshop.
An old rebel camp with a load of graffiti plus various abandoned gun
mountings.
