Where to obtain Mali Visas ?
 

Can you get a Mali visa at the Mauritania/Mali border or is it better to pick one up in NKT and if so is there enough time if tou only have a 3 day transit visa?

In March this year I picked up the Mali visa in NKT and it took about an hour. When I handed in the forms they asked me to come back later in the day, but I asked if it was ok to wait, and it was.

You would want to time your arrival for a working day and make sure it is not a national holiday (RIM or Mali).
To make it easier you could get your visa in Paris, my brother used an agency there and it worked well.

The staff in the noukchott office is incredibly friendly and welcoming. Make sure that youºre not going on a Friday or during Ramadan. Service may be iffy.

Depending on where you re crossing the border, there wont even be a formal border crossing. If you re driving a 4wheel drive and cross in the bush both in and out of the country you can even get away with not having a visa. However it wouldnt be too ethical.
