anchorage to texas
 

i am making plans to fly to anchorage this summer, purchasing a bike and riding it home to texas (east of dallas) i am curious as to quality of the roads from anchorage thru yukon territory on down through calgary which i my planned route - i have ridden extensively in the usa so no concerns there
but like i say what about through alaska and on down to southern canada
and what is best summer month to do this - what are temps in mid june or
should i wait till july ? any info would be greatly appreciated

One word "Milepost". :thumbup1:

Nothing to worry about, all tarmac or take a few gravel roads for variety. Easy. I can recommend the Inland Passage ferry down from Skagway to Canada, fab scenery. But if you're going over to Calgary, there's all the wonderful national parks to take in.

Be sure and take the Icefields Parkway on you way down through Canada, I've been told it's some of the best scenery you can see. I'm leaving Western Kentucky on June 1st for a trip to Alaska to see for myself! :clap:

Roads are no problem! Only make sure you have a good rain suit and some warm riding gear, and don 't bring any guns. You will lose them in Canada.

Milepost is a guide book with directions and listings of almost every place on most of the roads in Alaska, Yukon, BC
You can get it online or in most big book stores

When comming down from alaska there is a gravel road you can take part way ( Demster highway I think ) or just go on tarmac.Expect some construction along the way. Either way go to Jasper and then south to Lake louise. That is a very majestic mountain road all paved. From there Banff is a nice tourist town. Johnsons canyon is a nice place for a coffee in the area. From lake louise you can go to radium and on south to the border . Alternative and equally as beautiful is Lake louise to Revelstoke and down to Nakusp.There is a real nice place for lunch ,or a beer, right on the lake in Nakusp and then head generally south through any road from there. Anywhere 90 miles east of Banff and you are into the prairie. Hug the mountains and the coast for your best riding. Highway 101 in the states is very scienic coast road from Portland to Frisco.
