Bike Hire USA
Planning a two week trip in the USA this summer, possibly San Francisco - Grand Canyon wide circular route (route not yet planned), started looking at bike hire over there and it seems pretty expensive. Has anyone had any experience of bike hire in the US that can offer any advice?
Thanks in advance |
Google is your friend - Ever heard of Google?
TIP: The USA is not Thailand ... you won't find cheap rentals anywhere.

I used AZride in Phoenix last year and they were great.

Like Patrick said--there is no "cheap" bike rental place in the US, unless someone has opened up a shop. |

I would agree with whomever suggested you look into a purchase vs. Hire. I'd guess there are some good deals on hardware these days... You might just break even when you re-sell....
If you do hire, I recommend Las Vegas. I found Susan and Royce to be very helpful when I rented from them in October '08: MOTORCYCLES 702 Las Vegas Motorcycles Service and Rentals Cheers, Arkayik |

"Travellers' Advisories, Safety and Security on the Road" is not the correct best for a question about hiring a bike in the USA. "North America" is the more appropriate forum. |
I've had great experience with Pacific Cycle Company in the Bay Area. San Jose Motorcycle Rentals/Tours | 2008 Harley-Davidson & BMW | Silicon Valley, Bay Area, Northern California Mark was a great guy, easy transaction. They rent HD And BMW. I rode an RT. Picked up and dropped off when I wanted.

I've used both California Motorcycle Rentals California Motorcycle Rental: BMW rentals from/to San Diego, Seattle and Salt Lake City and AZride, that was already mentioned, when I was looking into getting a BMW. Since nobody will let you do a test ride in California, I looked for rentals. I had no problems with either, in fact both were very accommodating, although it looks like California has gotten quite a bit more expensive, while the Arizona place is a bit less. Arizona raised an eyebrow after I brought back the bike with over 2000 miles on their new bike after only 3 days, but unlimited mileage is unlimited mileage, and I sure enjoyed it!
If you are only coming for a couple of weeks, then buying and selling a bike is probably not worth the time and hassle that it cuts out of your time here. |
Grand canyon?
Won't be more than 110 deg by then.
