Documents required for Pan American Motorbike Trip?
Arriving in Anchorage Alaska end of April 2018 picking up my bike that’s flown in by Moto Freight and taking 6 months to ride down to Ushuaia Argentina.
I have my B1 visa, my health and bike insurance, my passport, my registration document (V5), and my drivers license but I keep reading about having the “title” too. What is a “title”? Am I missing something here? Any help or advice really appreciated Excited and nervous to be doing this on my own but hey......One Life Live It!!! |
Title is an American document that is separate from their registration document and in my experience it isn't really required unless you want to sell the vehicle. Mexico and South America always accepted my US Registration document for the truck camper.
We had a British Iveco for a while and the UK V5 Registered Keeper document was also accepted without problems all over the Americas (Us and the previous owners). Australians also don't have a title document, just registration and they don't have problems either BTW you might need to take out local mandatory liability insurance to comply with local rules in some countries. Definitely will in Mexico if their rules apply to bikes |
As Tony says the title is the American owners document and you will be fine with the V5, Mexican insurance here. https://www.bajabound.com/info/policies/motorcycle.php
