Hotel - B&B -Privateroom
Hi, in May 2014 our great adventure begins. We start in New York, I've been looking now 1 week in Internet for a hotel in NY City ... Yeah thats it's all pretty expensive .... we want from 10.May 2014 have about 5-7 days to prepare and arrive before it gets going everything.
does anyone have a good idea for a cheap but good night, gladly B & B or private. thanks to all. this is our blog about the project www.2ar.eu:eek3::eek3: |
You can try couchsurfing.com, or try and stay out of the city.
There are motels at pretty reasonable rates, get one near the rail line and you can get in when you want. Personally more than 2 days in NY is too much :-) |
Out of Manhattan you've got way more choices. Brooklyn has a few possibilities, as does New Jersey. You didn't say whether you need bike parking or car parking--another complicating factor.
I'd ask on the Lonely Planet USA Thorntree forum. People are pretty specific, so make your question specific too. Don't just try to send them to your blog. For example, say what you're planning to do in the city since that'll make a difference as to where you want to stay. Give a budget--in dollars, not "cheap" or "mid-range." Etc. Hope that's helpful. Hi mark thanks for your contribution. it was not my intention to make advertising, I do it already in other posts:thumbup1:, but I want to show people indeed who I / we are. :-) Sometimes it is supposed to happen that someone says. "Hey you can stay with us for 5 nights" this but only if he knows who we are.
Outside of NY City? I worry about going to the City, or is it easy and Shortly to go by Train ? So what City NYC a round is a good idea |

Look at this website, operates world wide:www.airbnb.com
Haven't seen any feedback here, but many very positive ones on other forums. Cheers |
Airbnb participants are being actively pursued by the Attorney General in New York City--the terms of use break local laws. This, along with the usual percentage of scams, mean you can easily get stuck without lodging. Be careful.
OP, if you read my post #3 I suggested asking your question elsewhere. If you don't want to do that, by all means don't. However, the site I suggested is a good one for what you're trying to do. No one complained about your blog. I'm just saying most people won't read it--you've got to give details about who you are and what you like to do in your post. Again, if you don't want to do that, by all means don't do it. I'm just telling you what works--it's your decision whether you want to follow my (or anyone's) advice. Good luck. Mark |
You might try www.hotwire.com to save on regular hotel accommodations. I would "second" Mark's recommendations regarding posting more info and also couchsurfing.

Thank´s

You might try here:
https://maps.google.com/maps?q=http:...339844&t=m&z=3 Hotels in the US, especially in large cities, are rather expensive for what you get and usually next to very busy streets or freeways, so noisy too. If possible, save your hotel $$$ for smaller towns. |

Hello there, as Mark and the others said correctly just try the internet ... or even better try the HU communities here on the website, you will find two HU communities in NY and two in New Jersey. Just introduce yourself and tell them what you are doing, maybe they have an idea or a couch to sleep on .... good luck. Saludos de Santa Marta Colombia mika

We stayed in North Bergen last week for about $80/night. Hotel had parking and provided a shuttle that ran us into Times Square for $14 return.
I didn't ride my bike into Manhattan as I found the traffic was nuts (as were tolls). Subway was a good, cheap way to get around the city and the open top bus tours are well worth it, including a night trip out to Brooklyn. Check out this website Visit all the Best Attractions for One Low Price | Smart Destinations and look at the New York Explorer Pass, it is good value. New York is a brilliant city (and this from someone who generally hates cities). |
Fyi if you're riding through the Blue Ridge Mountains you can stay with us along the way - we're a few miles off the Blue Ridge Parkway in Galax Virginia, no charge. PM me if you're interested.
