There was some sort of controversy about this company (Segurogingo)--who they cover, what sort of cover, where it's valid.... I can't remember the details, but I'd suggest either reading the fine print carefully or doing a thorough search here and elsewhere for details.

Has anyone had such insurance issued via Fernet/Progressive and if so were you happy with the policy you got?
Any problems?

We used Fernet when we were in the US two years ago and the process went quite smoothly. I can't speak for the claims process as we didn't use it. I was underwhelmed by the breakdown cover also arranged through Fernet as they wouldn't recover us from a motorway on the grounds it was too dangerous. They told us to call 911 which we did (with some trepidation) and the police arranged for another company to recover us.

We're were hoping to take our bike over to the US and Canada in just under three weeks for a short trip but I'm not far off cancelling it as I've been looking for insurance for a while and I can't find anyone who will offer it for someone who has a UK address because of GDPR issues.

I spoke to someone from Fernet yesterday evening on the off-chance something has changed but they were still unable to help.

According to the Motorcycle Express web site they can arrange insurance for the US but not Canada or Mexico.

Has anyone been able to arrange insurance for US and Canada for a European bike with a European address?

USA into and out of Canada

I am about to ship my Wing from the UK over to the USA in a few weeks for a trip from West coast to the East.
I am planning to cross into Canada at Sault Ste Marie and then finish my trip in Toronto.
When I ship the bike from Toronto back to the UK am I likely to encounter any problems due to the bike being a UK bike, temporarily imported into the USA and then shipped out of Canada to the UK?

We regret, we cannot offer insurance for Canada and USA anymore as most insurance companies do not want to insure foreign registered vehicles or foreign drivers anymore.

You could try and contact Dairyland insurance company in the USA - they used to offer motorcycle insurance for USA/Canada, so perhaps they can help you.

For information of all, after months of extensive research, I have finally found a good insurance for my french registered motorbike. And even more important, the program of insurance for foreign motorbikes from Progressive is still valid! As everyone know, Progressive has a huge experience of this type of insurance (Fernet was its representative before).

I got an excellent quotation from Insurance Services of Idaho, with good coverage level and very reasonnable price for my next summer 2 months trip with my french registered motorbike in Canada and USA, including Comprehensive, Collision, Road side assistance, etc...

No comparison with all the crazy prices, opaque policies and low coverage that I got until now.

Just like before, you just need to mention an adress in the USA.

For any request and quotation, contact Haylie Morgan at Insurance Services of Idaho (on behalf of me, Jean-Louis Olive), email: haylie@idahoisi.com (phone: 208.383.9500).

At the disposal of anyone who need more information.

Does not work. I provided them wit an address in Michigan, but they told me they can not do it.
That is bad news!

Yes, Haylie told me 2 days ago that the adress has to be in Idaho. It seems that some states in the US have their own regulation or benefit of some decentralization, seems to be the case for Idaho. Anyway, good news is that any adress in Idaho will work!

Just finalized full cover motorcycle insurance with Progressive. All done online with very good help from their chat function. International drivers license can be filled in online and also a foreign (EU) motorcycle isn't a problem as lond you have a valid VIN. Payed around $250 for a full year cover including Canada for my 2018 BMW F800GS. You only need a US address and it's not necessary to live there. you need it just to pass through the digital online process. All correspondence goes by email and their website login. Very happy with this deal and all 100% correct. :thumbup1:
