Hello here is an update on the insurance issue following the COVID storm:

We are finally back on the road. After 3 years the Japanese government has finally opened the door to foreign independent travel. We arrived in Japan 3 weeks ago to recover the bikes from storage, and after considerable effort have gotten the bikes roadworthy. We are now in the process of arranging insurance for North America.

We gad a deal back in 2019 with Cheryl of FERNET. However this is no longer an option. Her mail 15 Apr 23 says-

Hi all. I've tried the suggested links and so. Have asked for a quote from motorcycle express on monday 24-4-23 and so far no reply. did get a reply with the shipping quote however.

Did you manage to find a company that would offer it? I'm looking now and Progressive seem to be the favourites, however, when completing their online form, my UK driving licence is not recognised and they keep asking for a different one, same with my bike VIN#

Has anyone had any luck on this front? I know foreigners go ride over there, but how do they get insurance?

Progressive doesn't cover tourist,be careful.
We checked with 3 different representatives of progressive and got the same answer.
