Moki Dugway and Valley of the Gods, south east Utah
 

we have done quite a lot of forest service roads so are not afraid of washboards or unpaved generally BUT it has been raining in the general area over the last few days and maybe ford crossings are a bit more challenging on my Ninja 650

I can't get any local info on whether these sections of road are passable.

Anyone with local knowledge around this area?

If you are arriving from the north, you should be able to get close to the edge, then walk over and look down, you can get an idea of the Moki condition then.

As for the Valley of the Gods, well, see if anyone is coming out of that road and go ask, at last you have an opportunity of riding past the turnoff if it is bad

What type of tyres, road ones I guess?

Hmmm we had planned coming in from the east then going north.

BTW I assume you ride a Vstrom. My traveling companion (husband) rides a 650 Vstrom. He loves it .

OK, you are doing it the reverse of the way I did it, and yes I had a 650 strom, great bike :)

I guess you might have to ask a local at Bluff, or slip down to Mexican Hat and ask there

Valley of the Gods
 

I can't comment on the Moki Dugway, but I rode through the Valley of the Gods on the 24th of Sept. I rode from the east (hwy 163 to hwy 261). The gravel road was in good condition; if it wasn't washboarded in places, I could have ridden the whole route sitting down.
