OHV trails in the Appalachian mt.
Locals, travelers, OHV-riders and everybody else
I'm searching for dirt tracks and trails through the Appalachian mt. The plan is to ride from Baltimore or New York down to Columbia,TE, and join the TransAmericanTrail. Information on maps, websites, clubs, local riders, travel logs or just any info you might have will be appreciated. Thanks, Jakob Iceland |
Maps
Some USGS topo maps will help. The Apps are littered with old logging roads, access roads, rail beds, etc. Delorme makes an atlas with most of these on them, both books and on CD. You'll be able to pick up maps at State Forests, State Parks and State Gamelands as well, should you be near them. You can also send for them online, if you have a route somewhat planned out till you get to the TAT. You can go to the visitors bureau of the state online and get a visitors guide. While this won't be of great help, it may offer some suggestions on where to get additional info. If you have not already, Amazon.com: Online Shopping for Electronics, Apparel, Computers, Books, DVDs & more will probably have some books with road and trail info as well.
