temporary insurance in Halifax
Hi
Wow it has been some time since I used the Hubb, but here I am in hour of need. I just purchased a Mercedes Unimog truck from Germany for use as an expedition camper. It will be arriving in Halifax tomorrow (jan 16). I would like to drive it from Halifax to Quebec where I am currently living. The problem is that I am unable to find any company that will insure me for a period of 1-2 days so that I can drive it home. The motorvehicle dept in Halifax won't issue me a temporary registration without proof of insurance. I am stuck. Any ideas are appreciated as I am desperate:helpsmilie: |

Bit of follow up.
I was able to get insurance from ICBC in British Columbia on my mothers driving licence (resident of BC). With this proof of insurance I was able to get a temporary operators certificate in Halifax which allowed me to drive from Halifax to Quebec. None of the private insurance companies in Quebec or Nova Scotia wanted to touch this. Thank god for ICBC which is provincially regulated insurance. They would have insured and provided me with aTOC if I had arrived in BC and wanted to drive across Canada. I have done this before. Driving a Unimog from NS to QC was quite eventful as I had to stop at each weigh station and a curious cop stopped me afterwards to make sure I did. |
