TransAmTrail but going North-South

There is an idea I just can't get out of my head.
Maybe you can help me to sort it out.

Some time ago I discovered the pure off-road route across the USA the TransAmTrail, see:
Riding The Trans-America Trail - Motorcycle USA

Does anybody know a similar trail going north-south, let's say from Alaska to California - off road?

Cheers,
Wauschi

Some of the BDR trails linked together maybe?

Thank you for your hint!

Let me explain my rationality.
My wife and me just completed riding our motorcycles down to Patagonia and all the way up to the Caribbean.
The best parts we keep talking about are the off-road sections of Patagonia, Atacama, Altiplano...
We did similar rides in the Himalayas and Australia. Same thing, the best part are the challenging stretches without civilization.

Last year we traveled some national parks in the USA which are outstanding, except for the long stretches of highways in between, well....

This is how we came to the idea of asking for a off road route going north south, ideally in the mountains.

However, my search resulted in the following known options for an nice adventure ride:
TAT, Continental Divide and the TCAT.
Those routes are on the bucket list for sure but none of them go from north to south - off road.

Thank you so far.

Off road north to south

By off road I guess you mean single track trails? I live near the great divide trail in montana USA and there are some interesting two track sections with occasional highway connecting links. Keep in mind that the state of montana is larger than italy, GB and a few other smaller countries total land mass.

Bill, thank you for the hint.
Two track sections of gravel are just fine.
We will definitely have a closer look at the great divide trail.

Continental Divide all the way...

I've read heaps on it and u can pick it up anywhere. It doesn't solve the entire distance off road, but plenty of it. I'm planning to ride a big chunk of it in July 2016 for the first time.

octopusenvy, is looks like we both are getting prepared for a nice summertime adventure :-)

At the moment I am in favor of doing the TCAT as I've been to the USA a number of times but I've never been to Canada so far.

I think I will take advantage of the Air Canada Cargo deal (as soon it is on again in 2016) to get my motorcycle over to Canada. (Munich - Montreal for $ 700)

Thanks to PanEuropean we know how to get prepared for customs:

Unfortunately there are two things I have not figured out yet:
1) The one thing I have not figured out yet is how to arrange the insurance as I don't have a contact in the US. Any hint or help would be highly appreciated!

2) Will I be able to store my motorcycle along the way and continue the ride the next year? (This could possibly be considered importing the vehicle...)

Thanks for the feedback so far.

Cheers,
Wauschi

TCAT company

Hey guys,

I'm planning a trip to Canada and Alaska by spring next year.
I'd like to ride the TCAT or at least a big part of it.
Anyone keen on riding together?
Hope to hear from you!

Grtz,
Bossit. :-)
