1 month in Mongolia ( buy or rent bike )
 

Hi I will be 1 month in Mongolia , what’s the best option to have bike to do a 3000kms circular route begin and end at ulanbathor ?

1 rent a shinray / Chinese
2 buy a motorcycle ( brand ??)
3 rent a Japanese or European bike ( Honda/Ktm )?

I’m thinking on renting.m shinray on Cheketours but don’t know if won’t be better a more powerful and more “ off-road” like bike .

Advice welcome for options and places to rent / buy

For buying options, I would contact Oasis Guesthouse in Ulaanbaatar (OASIS CAFE & GUESTHOUSE – Modern and lovely furnished guesthouse with a public cafe/bar area) and Koji Aioto, the mechanic with the workshop next door (https://www.facebook.com/ajito.koji). Europeans often arrive as Oasis pretty done with their trip, especially in the second half of the season, and may prefer to sell their bike then ship it back (~$1200US).

Koji is an excellent mechanic with a modern garage and can probably fix and prepare any bike, given enough time to receive any necessary parts. He also has some bikes that he buys off travellers and may be able to sell and prepare for you.
