Aldan Ferry near Khandyga
 

Hi Guys

Does anyone know what time of year the ferry along the Aldan River near Khandyga stops sailing? (i.e. when the ice becomes too much on the river).

Obviously it's down to nature but a rough indication would be very useful.

I'm planning on crossing in the first days of October.

Again, no first hand knowledge, but according to this link it is pretty dicey at that time of year, although some years it seems to be OK:

Here is a phone number for the local authorities in Khandyga, of course they themselves won't know the answer for this year for several months, but maybe they can give the usual situation: +7(41153)41880

Thanks again Motoreiter, a great link! Looks like I'll have to keep up with local information on the ice and potentially move up earlier if the winter is coming quickly. Actually, I just made a contact in Khandyga so I'll keep in touch with him closer to the time.
